About the event
We’re celebrating when the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads were connected 155 years ago to create the first transcontinental railroad. This historic event allowed for riders to travel coast to coast by rail for the first time.
At the celebration donations will be gratefully accepted to help restore an authentic cane car. Cane Car #77 was saved from destruction in 1975 and restored in 1983. It was used as a “passenger car” for almost 40 years. Unfortunately, the wood is now rotted and needs replacement. It is our goal to raise funds to accomplish replacing the wood.
